Labour arbitration hearings continue in random drug testing case

Proceedings resumed yesterday in the case that would allow Suncor to randomly drug test its employees.

Arguments between the company and CEP Union local 707, have made it to a labour arbitration hearing in Calgary.

The 34-hundred workers with the union that say that it would violate their privacy rights.

The Supreme Court of Canada is currently deciding on arguments it heard last month about a random alcohol-testing policy at an Irving Pulp and Paper Ltd. mill in Saint John.

Its decision in that case is expected to set a precedent nation-wide.
