FMSPCA worried about over capacity trend

The Fort McMurray SPCA is worried of a growing trend of being over capacity.

Its Director, Tara Clarke says that as of yesterday it has over 100 animals on a wait list to be surrendered.

She says the longer the animals are on the list, the higher the chances they’ll be euthanized or released as strays.

Along with taking in strays and surrenders the shelter is also contracted for RMWB Animal Control.

It’s looking for more funding, a community-based Spay and Neuter program, more foster parents and longtime homes.
