Oil sands production up 35% at Cenovus; company supports west-east pipeline

Cenovus says its oil sands production went up 35 percent last year.

Production at the Foster Creek and Christina Lake projects jumped to almost 90 thousand barrels per day in 2012.

At Christina Lake, average production almost tripled to just under 32 thousand bpd.

Phase D of that project reached full capacity about six months after first production.

The company also says it’ll support TransCanada’s plan for an oil sands pipeline to New Brunswick by bidding for capacity.

The company posted a fourth quarter loss of 118-million dollars because of a writeoff of some southern Alberta assets.
