The governor of Vermont says he’s opposed to seeing oil sands crude piped through his state.
Peter Shumlin made the comments at a media conference yesterday.
The Portland Pipe Line Corporation is trying to use the Portland to Montreal pipeline as part of an eastbound line – that line cuts through northeast Vermont.
That’s led to some state legislators introducing a bill that would allow them to prevent the pipeline from being changed to allow for that.
But the Governor says he’s hesitant to support that bill – he’s waiting for a commission to rule on whether the state already has the authority to block the pipeline.
