Suncor says it’s seeing a lot of interest from companies who want to merge.
But CEO Steve Williams told CNBC today he doesn’t see them being acquired by a major company like ExxonMobil.
That’s because the Petro-Canada Act prevents Suncor from being bought without government approval, and Williams doubts Exxon could get it.
He also says Suncor wouldn’t consent to a move like that.
The company merged with Petro-Canada back in 2009.
