Alberta School Boards concerned with tentative deal

The province’s school boards are concerned with the tentative deal between the province and teachers.

An emergency meeting was held in Edmonton yesterday where 60 of 62 boards were represented behind closed doors.

The Alberta School Boards Association President Jacquie Hansen told CTV that the deal will have a negative affect on students.

The proposed 4 year deal would freeze wages for the first three years and in the fourth give them a 2-percent raise and a one-time lump sum.

Education Minister Jeff Johnson was at the meeting and recognized that it will be challenging for school boards.
