Inter Pipeline gets commitments for $2.6b project

Inter Pipeline Fund says it's gotten long term commitments from companies for a 2.6 billion dollar pipeline expansion.

The company plans to build 840 kilometres of new pipe, as well as seven new pump stations.

It's gotten commitments from Cenovus and ConocoPhillips to send bitumen from three oil sands projects.

They've committed for 20 years, with options to increase that to 30 years.

The oil will come from the companies' Foster Creek, Christina Lake, and Narrows Lake sites.
