Statoil increases production while carbon intensity falls

Statoil’s production is up despite reduced carbon emissions last year.

In the company’s 2012 Oil Sands Report, it says that Canadian oil sands production went up by more than 60 percent, while its average CO-2 emmissions went down almost 24 percent per barrel.

Statoil began production at the Leismer Demonstration project, about 120 kilometres south of Fort McMurray, in 2011.

The company also says they reduced water usage, improved the steam-oil ratio and planted 267,000 trees throught 2012.
