Redford makes another trip to the U.S. to push for Keystone

The Premier is in Washington D.C this week – her second visit in 2 months, to push the Obama administration to approve theĀ  Keystone X.L. oil sands pipeline.

On her 3 day trip she will meet with members of Congress, think tanks and media.

In a release she says she’ll highlight the province’s commitment to environmental policy, clean technology development, and a healthy energy sector.

She says she’ll also focus on how responsibly-produced Alberta energy will boost economies on both sides of the border, provide needed jobs for Canadians and Americans and make sure North American energy security and independence is achieved.

The Obama administration is considering approving the $7-billion TransCanada Keystone X.L pipeline that would ship 800,000 barrels of Alberta oil sands bitumen from Bruderheim to refineries on the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Redford says continued and new market access for Alberta’s energy resources is the most critical economic issue facing the province and country.
