Panel gives Enbridge conditions to meet for its propsed pipeline

Enbridge has a long list of conditions to meet in order to go ahead with its proposed Northern Gateway project.

The joint panel reviewing it says this list doesn’t mean a decision has been met but is a required step in the process.

There are dozens of conditions such as having a plans in place to enhance oil spill response capabilities, for monitoring species at risk and file a caribou restoration plan.

It also has to submit a plan for monitoring the environmental and marine effects of the pipeline, as well as tracking aboriginal, local and regional employment.

The panel says it expect to hear from participants on these at the final arguments next month.

The 6-billion-dollar proposed twinned pipeline would take Alberta crude to a port in Kitimat B.C.

The panels report is due at the end of the year.
