Professor: Province should refine more oil and gas

Refining more oil in Alberta is a better option than shipping it out of province, according to an economics professor.

A report written by a University of Calgary professor says the province would create jobs and 600 million dollars in annual revenues with an increase of oil and gas refineries.

The report was commissioned by a group of energy companies and municipalities called Alberta’s Industrial Heartland Association.

The Association has plans to lobby the government for new and expanded policies, to allow for more processing of oil sands bitumen and natural gas.
