Province studying northbound oil sands pipeline

The provincial government is now looking north for the latest oil sands pipeline.

The CBC reports that the province has hired a Calgary consulting firm to find out whether a pipeline to the arctic could be built.

It would be used as an alternative if the Keystone XL and Northern Gateway pipelines don’t get approved.

The Premier of the Northwest Territories has already said he’s interested in a pipeline.

A line up north could allow oil to be shipped to both Asia and Europe from the port of Tuktoyaktuk (pictured).
