Remembering and healing.

That’s what orgainizers want from this weekend’s memorial for victims of crashes on highway 63 and 881.

Emcee Sonia Burke-Smith has lost family to a crash on the road.

She says its a good opportunity for the community to show they care.

“It’s a small way of saying ‘hey you know what, we do think about you, you do matter, your loved ones matter,'” she said.

“And our hope is that by coming together that the families and responders feel that support.”

Burke-Smith says the idea of  community coming together is very important.

“Any little thing we can do to say ‘hey, we understand,’ and that your loved one mattered, that I think is really important,” she said.

“That your loss mattered, and that those people are remembered.”

The memorial is Saturday at 7 in the outdoor common area of the Jubilee Centre.
