3 charged after police turn up stolen car

Police found a lot more than just a speeder at a traffic stop early this morning.

Police arrested three people around 1:30 near the Athabasca Bridge after the car they were in was caught going 36-kilometres over the speed limit.

Not only was it speeding, but it also was a stolen vehicle.

All three are being charged with possession of stolen property over 5,000 dollars and breaching release conditions.

The 20 year-old woman driver is facing more provincial violations for driving with alcohol in her system and driving without a license; she’s had her license suspended for 72 hours.

The other two passengers were 24 and 19 year-old men.

All three remain in custody awaiting their court appearance.
