Some taxi drivers protesting at City Hall

A planned protest by taxi companies does not appear to have captured the entire industry.

Right now some taxi drivers have parked their cabs in front of city hall protesting the new vehicle for hire bylaw.

It includes things like increased licensing fees, and a newly appointed Chief Taxi Inspector.

Sun Taxi and City Cabs says they are protesting, but other companies say it’s business as usual.

It’s a 24 hour protest and was supposed to start at 6 this morning.

The airport says it isn’t affecting the airport service.

RCMP and By-Law Service are on scene, and monitoring the situation.
