Food Bank urgently needs canned goods

Due to government cuts in funding, the Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association is unable to run their successful Basic Shelf Program this year. The program graduates more than 50 students per year, taking them from low-income situations and molding them into active contributors in Wood Buffalo. Photo supplied by the Food Bank.

The Food Bank is urgently looking for canned foods.

As of right now, there isn’t enough canned goods to make basic hampers to send to it’s clients.

Executive Director Arianna Johnson says canned goods are great because they don’t go bad, and they can help make a basic meal.

“We want our families to have canned vegetables and canned meats because they can add those things to other things like pastas and rices to make a fuller meal.”
