Q1 shows trend of increased use at the Food Bank

Due to government cuts in funding, the Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association is unable to run their successful Basic Shelf Program this year. The program graduates more than 50 students per year, taking them from low-income situations and molding them into active contributors in Wood Buffalo. Photo supplied by the Food Bank.

The trend just isn’t getting better for the Food Bank.

In the years first 3 months it saw a 45% increase which equals an extra 150 food hampers.

In April alone it saw a 62% increase versus last year.

Because of the increased usage, the food bank is in urgent need of donations, especially canned foods.

You can donate at the food bank itself or at any local grocery store.
