After hours clinic a success, opens up chance of another location

Thousands have already walked through the downtown after hours clinic – and it’s been open for just over a month.

This past weekend over 160 people were seen by a physician.

Wood Buffalo Primary Care Network spokesperson Jordan Hiltunen said it’s had a great response.

“We had an amazing weekend, we saw 85 people on Saturday and 78 on Sunday,” he said.

Hiltunen said its purely on the drawing board, but there’s a possibility of a Family Care clinic opening north of the bridge within a couple years.

“Hypothetically you’re talking about 75,000 people living in the north past the bridge, we’re certainly taking that into consideration, that’s an integral part to our planning for health care for the future,” he said.

He says the wait times at the clinic are being monitored, and when it gets busy, they’ll add another physician.
