Harper at Council of Foreign Relations in N.Y. pressing for KXL

The Prime Minister told a New York audience yesterday, the proposed Keystone X.L oil sands pipeline will create jobs and create energy security.

The Edmonton Journal reports Stephen Harper spoke at the Council of Foreign Relations.

He says constructing the line would create 40-thousand jobs as well as reduce American dependency on offshore oil by 40-percent.

He admits that Canada as well as the world need to continue in its efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions.

He says the only real current environmental issue is if Americans want Canadian oil delivered by pipeline or the more risky idea of rail.
