Hwy 63 and 8 hours equals more than 55 tickets including racing and impaired driving

4 members on the Integrated Traffic Unit gave out a lot of tickets during an 8 shift on highway 63.

Yesterday it stopped and charged 2 with impaired driving after a breathalyzer showed they almost doubled the legal amount.

They’ll lose their vehicles for 3 days and have their licenses suspended until the outcome of the court hearings.

2 other drivers were charged with racing after getting caught traveling together over 155km/h  in a 100km/h zone.

Neither one had insurance, or authorized plates so their vehicles were both impounded, plus they’ll both appear in court to face license suspensions and costly fines.

A member assisted a bus driver because of drunk passengers, and a 22 year old man now faces charges including mischief, attempting to assault an officer and resisting arrest.

Yesterday in total, I.T.U. handed out 55 violation tickets including 11 provincial liquor violations, and the drivers traveling more than 50km above the speed limit have a mandatory court appearance.

It also noted last Friday, it stopped a 19 year old man coming into Fort McMurray near Mackenzie Blvd, traveling at 160 km/h in the 70 zone and he also faces a court appearance and the loss of his license.
