CAPPs 2030 crude production forecast more than doubles last years

The country’s main oil industry group predicts Canadian crude oil production will more than double by 2030.

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says it will make 6.7-million barrels per day up from 3.2-million in last years forecast.

That’s about 500,000 barrels more per day than it predicted last year.

Looking into next year and 2015 it says the industry will see about 20,000 barrels less a day than previous predictions.

It says overall production in those 2 years won’t be affected but after, production will surge.

Vice President of Markets and Oilsands Greg Stringham says the forecast relies on having enough pipeline and rail to get crude to market.
