881 re-opens as flooding improves

The municipality says Highway 881 has been re-opened to traffic after the Morris Creek Bridge was washed out earlier today.

Emergency crews will be on scene all night to monitor the situation and direct traffic.

The city has evacuated 33 people from Anzac because of the high water levels, and they’re being bused to hotels in Lac La Biche.

It says although the water level of the Hangingstone River is still very high, there is no risk to properties along waterways right now, though they’ll continue to monitor that situation too.

It’s still advising people to stay away from streams and rivers because the banks could be unstable, and there is debris in the water.
