Mandatory evacuations downgraded to voluntary for Grayling and Draper

The city has reduced the evacuations for Grayling Terrace and south Draper Road from mandatory to voluntary.

But the Ptarmigan Trailer Court residents are still being forced out of their homes.

Emergency Management says repair work along the river bank in Grayling Terrace has gone well, and the risk of flood and erosion has decreased enough for people to return to their homes. Big blocks of concrete are being installed by the river, and that process will continue over the next few days.

The south section of Draper Road is now open to two lane traffic, though Emergency Services says it’s still narrow in some points, and is asking residents to take caution when they use it.

A broken beaver dam caused a diversion in the flow of the Saline Creek, which has forced the Ptarmigan Trailer Court to remain under mandatory evacuation.

Erosion control is 3/4 of he way finished, and work is still happening in that area.
