Fort McMurray saw the largest drop in apartment vacancies province-wide

Apartment vacancy is dropping like a stone in Wood Buffalo.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says, in April, there was an overall 8% drop compared to the same time last year

It says there were only 2.8% ready for rent.

The largest decline was recorded in 2 bedrooms – last year there were 13.2% available and this April there were just 2.5%.

People on average paid about $200 more in rent – just under $2,100 a month.

That’s more than twice as much as rent in Edmonton.
