Duke & Duchess Of Cambridge Are Wishing Albertan's Well

Dear Alberta: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are wishing you well.

A message sent to Prime Minister Stephen Harper Monday from Prince William expresses condolences over the “deaths and destruction” caused by the flooding in Alberta. There are now four deaths confirmed amidst the floods.

William and his wife, Kate Middleton, took their first international trip to Canada in the summer of 2011 after they married. The royal couple visited Alberta as part of their nine-day tour, including the Calgary Stampede and fire-ravaged Slave Lake. They also sent a letter to the community one year later.

Below is the message William sent to the prime minister:

Catherine and I have been saddened to learn of the deaths and destruction caused by the unprecedented flooding throughout the Province of Alberta.

Please pass on our best wishes to the Lieutenant-Governor and Premier of Alberta and to the brave emergency services and all those volunteering to help their neighbours during this on-going period of intense efforts.  Please be assured of our continued thoughts and prayers for all those caught up in the flooding.

WILLIAM
