Suncor cuts production because of flood-related Enbridge pipeline shutdowns

Suncor, oilsands project

Suncor says it’s temporarily reducing oil sands production because of the flood-related Enbridge pipeline shutdowns.

Saturday Enbridge lost 750 barrels of synthetic oil from CNOOC’s Long Lake SAG-D project that spilled into a wetland area near Anzac.

It says heavy rains moving the ground may be to blame for the leak.

Cleaning crews are on site and it shut down two other major pipelines as a precaution.

Suncor says at this time it still should be able to meet its annual production target.

Both Suncor and Enbridge head offices remain closed because of the severe flooding in southern Alberta.
