Because of a lack of provincial money for roadwork, the region might see a lack of new houses which could boost housing costs.
The Edmonton Journal says that’s because new roadwork was supposed to connect the region with the new Saline Creek and Parsons Creek subdivisions.
Parsons Creek was already prepared for 20 thousand people sewer and water-wise, but an interchange to highway 63 has been delayed for the past 2 years,
Because improvements were cut to Airport Road, the new and nearby subdivision of Saline Creek has also halted its development and might not start up again until after 2016.
Keyano College land trust spokesman Kim Jenkins says it’s lost this entire summer to build the affordable subdivision it wanted in that community, because it can’t get development permits.
The provincial government also has 400 hectares of land near the airport, but it can’t develop it because there’s no road access.
