Premier Redford speaks out on MLA Allen's arrest

Premier Alison Redford had some choice words for MLA Mike Allen in the wake of his arrest in Minnesota this past week.

“In terms of that MLA’s conduct, it is more than inappropriate, I was disgusted by it. We will let the course of justice proceed,” she said.

Redford spoke with the media this morning at the K-Days Pancake Breakfast in Edmonton.

She also talked about why she’s especially sensitive to the issue.

“When I was Justice Minister we started doing work with respect to sexual exploitation of women and human trafficking. This is an issue that is very close to my heart,” she said.

When asked about the possibility of Allen resigning as MLA, Redford said the ball is in his court.

“I understand he has said that he will go back to his community to his constituents and have that discussion,” she said.

“That is appropriate at this time. He is an individual who will take responsibility for his actions. He will live with the consequences of his decisions.”
