Expansion to crude oil hubs should boost capacity by 25%

Crude oil hubs in Hardisty and Edmonton are getting ready for an expansion that should boost capacity by 25%.

Reuters says company data and estimates from energy intelligence firm Genscape figures projects will add around 9-million barrels of capacity over the next 2 years.

As well, TransCanada will add a yet unknown volume of storage in Hardisty once it ok’s its Energy East pipeline project to east coast refineries.

It says Edmonton is attracting more investors because of its proximity to refineries and pipelines running west and south

By 2020, production in Alberta’s oil sands is expected to nearly double to 3.2-million barrels per day up from 1.8-million in 2012.
