Enbridge extends pipeline at a cost of $1.3-billion

Enbridge is going forward and extending its Woodland Pipeline at a cost of $1.3-billion.

The line currently connects Imperial Oil’s Kearl oil sands project to Enbridge’s Cheecham terminal.

The 385 kilometre extension will run from the terminal to the Edmonton area; home to refineries and the start point of major export pipelines.

The line will start up in the third quarter of 2015 moving 400,000 barrels per day with the option to double that.

The project got approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator about a year ago.
