Suncor, oilsands project

Canada’s biggest oil sands company says production jumped about 11% in July and its yearly average is up almost 5%.

Suncor says last month it pumped out 390,000 barrels per day which is 39,000 more than last July.

The average year-to-date total went from 313,000 bpd last year to 328,000.

In its second quarter report it said production fell about 11% from last year and its operational earnings fell 25%

It attributed the losses to planned and unplanned refinery and pipeline outages.

But, it made $680-million in profit in the quarter which is more than double what it made last year.
