Southbound 63 to have nighttime lane closure starting Friday

Because rain delayed work on the underground drainage on Highway 63 at the end of July, crews will do a ‘take two’ and do it this week.

It starts Friday, will last a week, and will affect southbound lanes just past the Athabasca Bridge for about a 350 metre section.

But the work’s being done at night to minimize disruptions- between 11PM and 5AM weekdays and on the weekend it will start at 9PM.

Northbound traffic won’t be affected at all.

The province says it will make the roads safer because the water will drain off and won’t collect on the road.
