Dredging needed on Snye, city cautioning boaters on shallow water

The city is cautioning boaters who use the Snye River boat launch to watch out for shallow water.

It’s calling this year’s buildup of sand and vegetation unprecedented, and will need to be cleaned up with mechanical dredging.

A sediment buildup is normal, but it’s a lot worse this year because of the heavy rain and flooding in June.

The city is waiting on provincial and federal approval for the dredging, and says in the meantime it will put up warning signs at the Snye, and ask that if possible, people use the Horse Pasture Park launch instead.
