RCMP search for 69 y/o man who went missing on Lac La Biche lake

Lac La Biche RCMP continue to look for 69 year-old Donald Stratton who went missing Friday on Lac La Biche lake.

Stratton and a 62-year-old man were removing commercial fishing nets when a wave hit and caused both men to fall overboard.

The two weren’t wearing life jackets and the 12 foot boat started sinking.

Because Stratton wasn’t a strong swimmer, he was left holding on the boat when the other man swam to shore to call for help.

Once emergency official arrived, the boat was found but Stratton wasn’t.

On Saturday, crews started searching in the water, using sonar, cameras and divers, but so far, found nothing.

RCMP have worked with the Lac La Biche Fire Dept., Plamondon Fire Dept., Lac La Biche EMS, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, Alberta Conservation Officers, Little Divide Search and Rescue, Red Deer County Search and Rescue, Northern Alberta Aquatic Rescue Society and Lac La Biche RCMP victim Services.
