The second incumbent to announce an intention to run for council is Russell Thomas and it’ll be his second term
He’s the interim director of Arts Council Wood Buffalo, and a member of the Premiers Council on Culture.
He says council’s made some great advancments but it still has a lot to do.
He wants to work with other orders of government to improve transportation, land issues, and regional development as the community and industry grows.
He says he’ll continue to work across organizations and with citizens to innovate, collaborate and explore what is possible.
Incumbent Colleen Tatum has also announced her intention to run, and newcomers Jon Tupper, Tyran Ault and Steve Kelly will too.
Melissa Blake has also said she’ll run again for Mayor, and is the only person in the running so far.
The election is October 21st.
