Sheldon Germain seeks re-election; been a councillor since '98

First elected as councillor in ’98 Sheldon Germain says he’s looking to be re-elected October 21st.

He says he wants to keep driving a family friendly Fort McMurray, create better communication between the city and residents, and continue to be an independent thinker.

“One of the things that I have a track record of doing is standing up for people, and representing the people that I work for.  It’s been an honour and pleasure to do that and I’d like to continue.”

He says to make the region more family friendly, he’d like to create one membership that will get you into all rec centres in the region.

He says he’s always been an independent thinker.

“I hope that my colleagues elected think about an independent voice,” he adds, “because that’s really how you get to better decision making, is listen to everyone’s ideas, collaborate and find the best alternative for the community.”

He says working on communications between the city and residents is huge.

“One of the things that I’ve been continually hearing is the deficit in communication and really, what I want to see, is not just  do public consultation but get to the point of an engaged citizen and collaborate,” he continues,
“we’ve seen and I’ve heard and  I’v heard loud and clear the issues facing the Snye and the Downtown arena and those we have to work out before I would ever support them in council.”
