Hospital St. overpass finally reopens; Morrison merge lane paving Saturday night

Alberta Transportation says after more than nine months, the Hospital Street overpass is finally open to two lanes of traffic going westbound.

The restriction was lifted this morning, and there only remains a few more weeks of night work on the overpass – mostly finishing, painting, and inspection – before it’s officially done.

It was damaged on New Year’s when an oversized load hit the bottom of the bridge; the person who hit it was never found.

The province also says it will do overnight paving on the Morrison Street merge lane onto northbound Highway 63 on Saturday night.

From 8:30 pm to 5 am on Sunday, drivers will have to make a right turn through the intersection.

Also, starting at 11pm, one lane of northbound 63 will be closed for about 100 metres, starting 50 metres north of Morrison.
