Enbridge to connect to JACOS Hangingstone Oilsands Project

Enbridge has agreed to connect the JACOS Hangingstone Oilsands Project to it’s regional system.

The pipeline will have the capacity to transport 40,000 barrels per day to it’s Cheecham terminal and it should start in 2018.

Enbridge says this project will be the tenth to connect into it’s infrastructure in the Athabasca region.

Pending regualtory approvals and a definitive agreement, the pipeline company says it will build and operate a 50 kilometre line, which will also have the ability to transport a diluent back.

The agreement would be for 20 years with the option to extend it in successive 5 year terms.

The project is located about 50 kilometres southwest of Fort McMurray and JACOS (75%) and Nexen (25%) are partners in the project.

Production start-up at the 20,000 bpd project is expected in 2016.
