The Keyano Huskies have announced their athletes of the month for September.
Jordan Brass, a defender on the women’s soccer team, and Scott Sandercock, a forward on the men’s hockey team, were given the honours.
Brass, who played two seasons in the CIS for St. Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia, came into this season expecting to be a striker, but was put on D because of her experience.
She says that’s adjusted her goals for the season.
“Definitely one of my goals because I am one of the leaders and I was captain last weekend, is to help the people that are at the bottom and try and work them up stronger and stronger towards the top,” she said.
Sandercock has major junior and junior A playing time under his belt, and has six points in his first two games as a Husky.
He says that he’s optimistic about the team’s success, and knows what the team has to improve on after a couple losses to SAIT.
“A little bit of mess-ups out there and a couple of off passes. We’ve been working on it all week so we get all next week to work on it so we’ll be coming into our home opener really strong and ready to go,” he said.
