Tyran Ault releases full election campaign

Council hopeful Tyran Ault has released his entire platform and says it addresses people’s concerns to make this a better community to live.

He’s running to become a Ward 1 Councillor.

He says one of the big concerns he’d like to act on is about the safety of the roads and traffic.

“People were not happy with snow removal, pot hole patching, municipal line paiting, stuff like that.”

And he knows how he’d like to tackle it.

“So I’m hugely in favour of taking a good hard look at those budgets and likely increasing them.

He’s also pushing for better retail, commercial, and recreational opportunities but by addressing everyone’s concerns with enhanced community engagement.

When it comes to engaging the community he  says he’d like to see in-person town halls.

“We shouldn’t only be open and accessible as elected officials just during election time,” he continues, “it should be somthing that happens all the time whether thorugh formal or informal forums, where elected officals are on display to talk to residents.”

He says the community would benefit from a better council meeting process as well.

“Currently an agenda is posted on a Friday afternoon for a Tuesday meeting which doesn’t give residents a lot time to study the agenda and then formulate any real presentations or  issues to council.”

Ault says he wants an arena, but thinks the downtown arena isn’t being planned properly.

“The space itself is very small.  The presepective developers echoed those concerns when I was talking to them and my biggest fear is that if we’re going to build it, we need to build it right.”

“We want this facility to last for the next 25-40 years,” he reiterates, ” so if we’re going to build it, let’s build it right.”

He says they need to look closer at catalysts projects and look at things such as how traffic and parking will be effected.
