Phoenix Heli-Flight rescues severely injured hunter from bush

A hunter is in hospital with severe but not life-threatening injuries after being rescued from the bush north of Fort McMurray on the Athabasca River today.

Phoenix Heli-Flight says they coordinated efforts with Husky Emergency Services and the Fort McMurray Fire Department to save the man who injured himself falling.

Husky responded because their plant is close to where the man was.

Their rescue crew helped the man out of the bush on a stretcher, where Phoenix Heli-Flight then helped get him to the hospital in town.

It’s unknown whether the man was by himself.
