NEB investigating Keystone Pipeline's pipe and fittings

Canada’s National Energy Board is investigating TransCanada’s Keystone Pipeline not the Keystone XL.

It says during a standard audit of the pipeline company’s safety practices it confirmed some pipe and fittings are below standard.

The Board says it found it operated safely for the most part but some areas need improvement.

The investigation started before the audit in 2008, when the Board says it became aware of the problem.

The NEB says because it’s an ongoing investigation, any action needed to fix the problem will be determined outside of the audit.

The Keystone Pipeline runs from Alberta to the Southern U.S.
