AER investigates CNRL pipeline spill NW of Slave Lake

The Alberta Energy Regulator is looking into a CNRL pipeline that’s spilled 70,000 litres of oil and processed water northwest of Slave Lake.

The federal regulator says it happened and was reported by the pipeline company on Monday.

It says the spill isn’t an emergency, the oil isn’t near anyone, water or wildlife, and cleanup efforts have been started.

There was a low amount of hydrogen sulphide gas detected as well.

According to Greenpeace, CNRL has almost twice as many pipeline problems than other companies in Alberta.
