Local man facing fraud charges after making over $400,000 in false deposits

A 45-year-old local man is facing fraud charges after police caught him making more than $400,000 in false deposits to different local banks.

RCMP say he withdrew some money before being arrested and some of the money’s been found and seized.

The local is facing 5 counts of uttering forged document, 5 counts of fraud over 5,000 dollars, 11 counts of obtaining false pretenses and a count of obstructing a peace officer.

He’s in police custody pending a bail hearing and will be in court at a later date, yet to be determined.
