The "Human Barbie" has some interesting thoughts on race & family life

Valeria Lukyanova, better known as Human Barbie, might seem like a figment of Photoshop imagination, but, when GQ’s Michael Idov traveled to Ukraine to interview her, he found out Lukyanova is all too real.

Lukyanova first made headlines in 2012 for her living doll appearance, with large breasts, waist-length blond hair and wide eyes. She calls herself Amatue in herYouTube videos, which focus on transcendental thought and self-help.

Idov met Lukyanova in Odessa, where she consumed nothing but carrot juice with chutney (she’s expressed a desire to be a breatharian, meaning she would not eat or drink and would attempt to subsist on air and light). It wasn’t long before she dropped a bombshell, claiming that standards of beauty have changed “because of the race-mixing.”

“For example, a Russian marries an Armenian,” Lukyanova told GQ. “They have a kid, a cute girl, but she has her dad’s nose. She goes and files it down a little, and it’s all good. Ethnicities are mixing now, so there’s degeneration, and it didn’t used to be like that. Remember how many beautiful women there were in the 1950s and 1960s, without any surgery? And now, thanks to degeneration, we have this. I love the Nordic image myself. I have white skin; I am a Nordic type — perhaps a little Eastern Baltic, but closer to Nordic.”

The interview even touched on Lukyanova’s disinterest in having a family.

“It’s unacceptable to me. The very idea of having children brings out this deep revulsion in me. Most people have children to fulfill their own ambitions, not to give anything,” she says, adding later, “I’d rather die from torture because the worst thing in the world is to have a family lifestyle.”

Last year, VICE made Lukyanova the focus of a documentary titled “Space Barbie” (she once thought she was from the planet Venus). She explained in the film that she uses her physical appearance to promote her spiritual ideals.
