A Fort McMurray Public School teacher’s assistant is facing child exploitation charges, after he was arrested last Friday.

The investigation was lead by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), in connection with its Northern Alberta Child Exploitation (ICE) team, the Wood Buffalo Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), and Wood Buffalo RCMP.

Police say Hancock allegedly committed multiple offences against two Fort McMurray students over the last ten months.

Investigators say they don’t think the crimes happened at the school.

ICE started to investigate after getting information from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa, as well as the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Police say a search warrant was done at Hancock’s house almost immediately after getting the information.

Computers and electronic devices have been seized as evidence for forensic analysis.
