Alberta Health Services says forest fires burning in the Northwest Territories have compromised the air quality throughout communities in Northern Alberta.

It says the increased smoke in the air can cause eye and throat irritation, along with possible shortness of breath.

AHS says it recommends that people being affected by the smoke limit outside activity and close windows and outside air vents in their home.
