29y/o local arrested after man assaulted with baseball bat in Fort Chipewyan

A 29-year-old Fort McMurray man is facing charges after a man was hit in the head with a baseball bat at a house in a reserve in the Fort Chipewyan area.

RCMP say it happened just before 1 Friday morning, and the victim was taken to the hospital and treated.

The suspect fled the scene, but because the victim knew who the suspect was, police were able to find and arrest Duncan McKay later that day.

RCMP say it charged him with assualt with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and 5 counts of failing to comply with his comditions.

He’s still in custody and will be in court August 7th.
