$11.5m in maintenance deferred at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre

The provincial government has deferred almost $11.5 million in maintenance at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.

That’s part of $637 million that has been deferred across the province, according to documents obtained by the provincial Liberal party.

In total, $275,000 in maintenance for the Thickwood Medical Centre and $30,000 for AHS staff housing have also been deferred.

All of those projects were scheduled to be done before 2013-14, but haven’t even been started yet.

The Liberals say delaying maintenance projects lead to bigger problems down the road, like a recent burst pipe at an Edmonton hospital that forced surgeries to be cancelled.
