The Fort McMurray Airport Authority has announced it’s donating fifty thousand dollars to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
The money is part of the 150 thousand that the airport says it’s going to be investing into the community from proceeds from the recent Air Show and Gala.
The Food Bank saw a 43 percent increase in usage in 2013, depleting its food stocks 30 percent faster than it anticipated.
It now has to spend about five thousand dollars a month on perishable food; so the donation translates to almost a full year of base cost funding.
